In 1997 Intercast was founded to meet the initial demand of the overseas market for piano plates. Today Intercast has successfully added two other product lines: heavy autoparts for trucks, tractors and farming equipment and off-road, as well as parts for waterworks (valves, fittings, hydrants, etc.).
The foundry is strategically located in the municipality of Itaúna, 100 kilometers (about 60 miles) from Belo Horizonte, the largest mining-steel making center in Brazil. The region is internationally recognized for its mining and metallurgical activities, together with steelmaking and casting, and including the assembly of cars and trucks.
In January 2004, the company became incorporated, joined by ACIPCO—American Cast Iron Pipe Company, a leader of centrifugal pipe casting in the North American market ( www.acipco.com).
